Please give us a short summary of your website?
The website is about roofing services we offer such as Flat roof to pitch roof conversions, velux window installment, roofing with slate and tile, roofing with Yorkshire stone, Lead work, guttering and general roof repairs. These services are offered to the whole of the UK.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I had a friend of mine launch the website for me to attract more business and to also as I had just become a limited company I felt I needed a larger presence within the roofing industry.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
The website was launch approximately a year ago in May 2006 to give my roofing company more exposure.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
The name was chosen from the city I live in and the business I am involved in.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
We offer a more comprehensive package than most roofing companies backed up by a minimum of a ten year guarantee up to 25 years
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
To pass the business down to my 2 sons.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
I wish I had more time as it is a 12 hour day at the moment but you only get out of it what you put in! The Money is ok but more success would not go a miss.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would definately expand the business, more staff, more vans and equipment etc more advertising and invest in professional body associations which can be expensive.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes! I have good connections with other teams of roofers whom I could sub-contract at a minutes notice.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Presently only the odd breakdown of vehicles.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Finding the time to successfully advertise.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Apart from listing the website in the 3 major search engines there are no other.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
I basically thought I could list my website then keep adding new pictures of current work to keep it updated but this doesn't seem to be sufficient to give it a good ranking witin the search engines.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
The site has run for over a year now and will continue to run as long as the business is going.
