Greetings all,It's hard to make a proper choice when it comes to furnishing your home. I've been running around furniture stores all over New York city area just to find something appealing and affordable. The problem I had is that my living room is very long and very narrow (about 22' by 13'). I wanted the furniture to occupy the least amount of space but to provide a large seating area for at least 4-6 persons.
I was recommended Modern Line Furniture,a contemporary furniture website. They had this very easy to use room planner software, which allowed to map my entire house to the exact inch. I was able to plug different furniture arrangements to achieve my desired goal. How convenient is that?!? I wish I found this site sooner, before I started my furniture store hopping.
The furniture selection on this website is great with very unique looking sofas. The prices are much lower than store's retail prices. They also offer a flat fee shipping, so if you are buying a lot, the shipping fee will not increase. I've found a perfect sectional sofa for my living room. It is a U-shape sofa that has two (left and right) chaises with a long sofa part in the middle. It looks awesome in my home, and I've received many compliments.
Important things that I've learned: 1) Measure the dimensions of your room carefully. You do not want to purchase oversized or undersized furniture. You do want your furniture to look good in the space you have, plus it should be practical. Don't compromise functionality solely on the looks of a furniture piece.
2) Consider the style and color that will provide the best contrast in your room. Pick the main focus object in your room. In my case it was my big screen TV. The leather color you pick should provide a soft contrast to your walls and floors: usually, lighter leather for darker less sunlit rooms, and darker leather for brighter rooms (or wall paint).
3) Shop for the best overall price. Pay attention to the shipping cost. The Modern Line Furniture website seems to provide very good prices with a fair shipping fee.
4) When you will receive your furniture delivery, inspect everything, including the outside packaging. If you see anything that you do not like you should refuse the delivery.
5) And finally, enjoy the furniture that you've actually picked without those pushy in-store salesmen.
