Please give us a short summary of your website?
We offer quality window film products with a high level of attention to customer service and meticulous installation. Our website offers a great deal of information about window film, its application and technical information about the various products. We even have a terminology glossary.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
While window films are becoming very popular in Toronto and throughout the region, there was a lack of information about all that window films can do. We needed to provide consumers with far more information than a print ad could provide.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
ArtisanMosaics.ca, which we launched in 2006
How did you decide on a name for your website?
The name of our products and our company name.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
We offer the finest quality window films from the world's foremost manufacturers. Many window film companies only carry one line, we offer several choices so that we can help our customers find the most appropriate film for their application, and budget.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
We will be keeping it! We love working with our Toronto area commercial and residential clients. The feedback we receive from them is amazing encouragment.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Success is simply a measure of effort. We know that our hard work and dedication to customer service is what is growing our business right now. It is the same with our website.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
We would expand our website to provide more consumer and trade information. We would also put more trucks on the road to meet the needs of our customers.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
We are always looking for talented people to work for us. We carefully train both our sales an installation staff to ensure a positive experience, every time, for our customer. This puts us in an excellent position to grow with increased demand.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
The weather this winter has been crazy. The condition of the roads has caused us delays, but we just work a little longer to catch up.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Getting our site to the top of the search engine ranks--we know that if you aren't on the first page of search results your site won't be much of a marketing tool.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
We started out with pay per click to get found, but now our site ranks well in organic searches.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
There is way more to it than design (which is also important).
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
This is our third year for this particular site and it will stay online indefinitely--we're in business for the long haul.
