What inspired you to launch your own website?
A passion for decorative gardening.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
Started last year and am now just starting to promote it.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Lots of neat iron decor in iron made the choice easy. We have since branched out into bronze and marble.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
We offer unique items that cannot be found anywhere else.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Purpose is to expose gardeners to the joy of adding museum quality decor to their endevours.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
So far, this has been a labor of love.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
We would fill the yard with museum quality bronze, iron, and marble.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Just try me -- but I would rather it was a slow and easy business.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Trying to get people to come to visit has been the biggest prob.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Our location truly makes us the "secret garden"
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
So far we have tried using only word of mouth - very slow, but also very good in the long run
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Not sure at this point, we are only getting started.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
We have been at this for only two seasons. Af far as how long we will continue? How long will we live?
Are we doing the right thing in our retirement years?
Only time will tell but it sure beats playing bingo.
