Ohio collectibles Heartland Creek Interview
Name of your website?

Heartland Creek

Your name?

P. Fabry

Your Location (city, etc)

Windham, OH

Please give us a short summary of your website?

A large selection of country home decor and collectibles including Jim Shore, My Little Kitchen Fairies, Disney, Cloudworks, cast iron, rooster decor, vintage jewelry, and much more!

What inspired you to launch your own website?

We were successfully selling vintage jewelry and other items on e-bay and other auction sites but decided we wanted more control of our business.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

Heartland Creek is our first website and has been online for nearly three years.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

Heartland Creek is unique in that we offer new and vintage collectibles and decor in the styles of country, rustic, and western.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Heartland Creek is a success and is continuing to grow daily. We have invested a great deal of time and money but feel it has been worth it.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Our goal for Heartland Creek is to continue to grow the business and become even more successful. Long term goals include creating a legacy for our family.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

If we had an unlimited budget, we would be set up on our own servers with custom site programming to better serve our customers.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

We certainly would do our best. As with any business, you have to be flexible and able to move quickly to provide what the customer wants.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Headaches have been server down times, site programming issues, and backordered stock.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Our biggest challenge has probably been our site programming to keep up with customer needs.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Our most successful method of promotion has been our SEO work on the site. Search engine placement is vital to any successful online business.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

Heartland Creek is a long term project for us. We have enjoyed seeing increasing traffic and income since it's beginning nearly three years ago.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

We didn't realize the amount of time that would be involved with all the different aspects of running a website. We have learned a lot and still have a lot to learn. We are happy to invest as much time as it takes to continue to grow.

What is your website address?

Heartland Creek
